Starflaked stitches gathered by victoria of follow the star studio
Yarn and needles should be compatible and will determine final size. Measuring from point to point, worsted weight with size 6US yields about 5”, crochet cotton with size 2US approximately 3”.
I recommend using 3 dpn with 1 stitch marker each to divide into 6 sections, using a different marker for the first/beginning new round cue. For the more adventurous, use 6 dpns (plus 1 working needle), one for each section! Purls can be knits, didn’t add as much texture as I’d hoped.
Using slipknot cast on, CO 6 stitches. Repeat each round’s instruction 6 times
- Knit
- Knit front and back (Kfb)
- K, YO, K
- K, YO, K, YO, K
- K2, Kfb, K2
- K, P, K, YO, K, P, K
- K2tog, YO, K, YO, K, YO, K, YO, SSK
- K2, P, K, P, K, P, K2
Now begins working to complete the reduction of each point, one point at a time. Work these rows back and forth.
A. K2tog, K, YO, K, YO, P, YO, K, YO, K, SSK
B. K2tog, K7, SSK
C. K2tog (twice), YO, P, YO, SSK (twice)
D. K2tog, K3, SSK
E. K2tog, K, SSK
F. Sl1, K2tog, PSSO
Your choice here: cut yarn, weave in end, having another 2 ends each for every point
OR
Do a simple chain crochet down side of the point, pass the loop over the first stitch of the next section to join and begin at row A again.
Weave in ends and block. Starch if desired. ENJOY!
P = Purl Kfb = Knit into front and back of the same stitch (increase) YO = Yarn Over: lay working yarn over working needle (increase) K2tog = Knit 2 stitches together (decrease) SSK = Slip 2 stitches to working needle, one at a time (as if knitting them), then enter with holding needle and knit them together (decrease) Sl = slip stitch as if to purl PSSO = Pass the slipped stitch over (decrease)
Enjoy pattern as you choose. If you reproduce the pattern for friends, just be sure let them know where to find it, too!
